"Beware the barrenness of a busy life" – Socrates
Something that Arnold Schwarzenegger told me while speaking with him has profound meaning for today’s society. He said that growing up in Austria they did not have all the technology such as iPhone’s, iPads, computers, television with multiple channels…etc, which are distractions today. This allowed him to be focused on his vision.
Today people are busy with a lot of things that compete with the important things. Have you ever seen a hamster run in their wheel? I actually have. They run very fast spinning the wheel and never get anywhere. Today there are a lot of people spinning wheels and not going anywhere because they either don’t have a vision or goals or don’t have a strategy on how to achieve them.
A tire stuck in a rut can do a lot of work and actually make the situation worse. It’s very important to have a goal for your life and if you don’t let me give you one. Focus on being the best you that you can be in mind, body and spirit. It’s a process that involves a lot of work, commitment and self-discipline but it will always be worth it.
Invest your precious time wisely towards developing yourself. Become a beacon to others instead of being distracted with empty busyness that makes you spend a lot of time and energy in spinning wheels without allowing you to grow.
